When Battlefield Band played a concert in Fairbanks perhaps 15 years ago, I volunteered our pipeband to help the Concert Association with logistics: pick the band up at the airport, transport them and their gear around, etc. So we did that, and then invited them over to my house for a party after the gig. New carpet had just been laid. Alan Reid, the vocalist/keyboard player, put his beer down on the coffee table, and our Golden Retriever instantly swept it off with her tail. The "hired mourners" is a new concept to me; I find it very interesting. Your story reminds me how much I love Celtic music.
